Emergency News Alert!

Park City, Utah - Reports have surfaced that a Class II-A avalanche has struck the Jeremy Ranch area near Park City, Utah. It is believed the slide struck an area commonly known as Fat Bear Mountain.

Sometime around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6th, a large cornice broke free from the peak, sending massive amounts of snow down the hill, narrowly missing a house belonging to a park city resident.

It is believed the avalanche was triggered naturally. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties.

The local Sheriff was seen investigating the area, but could not be reached for comment.

The timing of the most recent slide is of particular interest to freeskiers from the Western United States. An annual freestyle event is scheduled to be held on Fat Bear Mountain just two weeks from today. The sponsoring companies, Fat Bear Productions, AXA, and Kotis Design, have yet to release any statements about potential changes to the 2008 (18th Annual) Fat Bear Mtn. Freestyle Invitational Open Classic.

More information, including pictures will be available sometime on Thursday, Feb. 7th.
