Snowbird Extends Season to June 20th – ksl.com
The season initially was targeted to end after the Memorial Day weekend, but with a 117-inch base Thursday after a series of heavy spring storms, the Little Cottonwood Canyon resort decided to extend operations for three additional three-day weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
“The coverage on the mountain is remarkable for this time of year,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar, noting that this is the third season in a row in which some of the biggest storms came late. With May’s continued storminess, Snowbird has received 588 inches of snow this winter, 88 more than average.
The National Weather Service says we’re supposed to get a little more snow this weekend. Could be a good time to hit up the Bird for a little late-May pow. I guess mountain biking can wait another week or two. Maybe I’ll sneak in another ski in the morning, bike in the afternoon days.
