I made the trip to Solitude to pick up my season’s pass and ski my first couple runs of the season. I actually skied four runs before deciding that I was over the one run that was open.
I’m trying to resurrect my rock ski’s rock skis, the amazing Nordica Beasts. Instead of buying a pair of lighweight park skis for crusing around on non-pow days, I decided to give my Beasts another shot. They’re lightweight, center mounted, soft, and a lot shorter than my 191 P4’s. Unfortunately, they have lost all camber, have a handful of core shots each, busted edges, and have a skiable area of about a foot and a half. The tips and tails are so soft, the skis could pass as an aftermarket attempt to create a K2 Pontoon. Anytime my weight was forward or on my tails, the ski would come close to bending completely in half. It was actually kind of rewarding to have made it through the day without injuring myself.
